Magna Inácio
Associate professor at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and editor of PEX-Network blog. She is currently carrying out research on presidents and presidencies. Her research interests include coalition governments, the institutional presidency, the executive branch, and legislatures in Brazil and Latin America.
FELLOWS
Manuel Alcántara
Director of CIEPS (Panama) and former Professor at the University of Salamanca (Spain). He received a Doctorate Honoris Causa (University of San Martin, Buenos Aires and University Columbia, Paragua). His field research concerns Parliament Elites in Latin America, Organization and internal structure of Latin American Political Parties, Elections in Latin América, and Professionalization of Politicians.
Mariana Llanos
Co-Director of the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies (ad interim) in Hamburg (Germany). Her research focuses on comparative political institutions in Latin America. Her most recent projects deal with the personalization of executive power, and strategies of institutional trust-building by the judiciary.
Royce Carroll
Professor in Comparative Politics at the University of Essex (UK). His research focuses on democratic institutions and the role of representation in the policy-making process, particularly legislative politics, political parties, coalitions, and ideology. His recent research focuses on political parties and the spatial analysis of preferences and ideology.
Paulo Araújo
Is a professor at the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo. He holds a PhD in political science from UFMG. His research is focused on Political Representation, Legislative Law-making, Bicameral system, and Legislative and Executive relations.
Daniela Rezende
Holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and was visiting researcher at Rice University (Houston, Texas). She is a professor at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and is working mainly on the following subjects: gender, feminism, and political institutions.
Filipe Recch
Filipe Recch is a postdoctoral research and policy associate at the Blavatnik School of Government. He holds a PhD in International Comparative Education and an MA in Political Science, both from Stanford University. His research is focused on presidential powers, state capacity development, and educational policies and curriculum. His career spans academia, public, and not-for-profit sectors.
Alessandra Costa
Holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil) and was visiting researcher at the University of Salamanca (Spain) and at the Universidad de La Republica (Uruguay). Her research focuses on formal and informal institutions, multi-party and one-party cabinets, and executive-legislative relations.
Aline Burni
Holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil) and was a Fulbright grantee at New York University (USA). Her research focuses on Comparative and European Politics, Political Parties, the Radical Right, Populism and Immigration Policies.
Bárbara Lamounier
Has a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). Earned her master’s degree in Political Science at UFMG and her main research interests include the Legislative Branch, Presidents and Cabinets, and Comparative politics.
Carolina Guerrero
Holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Hamburg (Germany) and is a Research Associate at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA). Her research interests focus on comparative politics, elites, formal and informal institutions, President-Congress relations, and women in politics.
Raquel Novais
Holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil) and was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Salamanca (Spain). Her research interests focus on Political Institutions, the Legislative Branch, and Political Campaigning. Novais is a Political Consultant and lives in Cologne (Germany).
Rosiene Guerra
Holds a PhD in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the same university which she holds a BA degree in Public Management. Interest in the areas of legislative studies, executive-legislative relations, public policy and research methodology in political science.

Aglaé Tumelero
Is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). Her research centers on presidential advice in Latin America, especially on how presidents obtain information to make public policy decisions.
Adwaldo Peixoto
Is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). He is a Constitutional Law Professor. His interests include comparative constitutional design and comparative politics, the separation of powers, and Executive-Legislative-Judiciary relations.
Ananda Ridart
Is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). Her areas of interest include Political Institutions, Legislative Studies, political parties, and representation in Latin America.
Eliene Silva
Is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). She is studying the executive’s legislative agenda with a focus on inter-cameral dynamics. Her areas of interest include legislative institutions and coalition interaction.
João Brasil
Is a Master student in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). He has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Management from UFMG. His areas of interest include public policy, executive-legislative relation, and presidential power.
Luiza Aikawa
Is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science from the University of Brasília. Her areas of interest include political institutions, parties, and representation.
Miguel Cunha
Is an undergraduate student in Social Science with emphasis on Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). He is studying the Executive-Legislative relationship with a focus on budget issues.

Rafael Correa
